Our daughter started with WMS in fall 2022 and our son joined her this past semester. We are extremely happy and grateful for the educational and social experience they’ve received at WMS. The curriculum and educational activities at the school are a level above that of any other pre-school we’ve encountered (and there’s been many), and it’s apparent to us that the teachers are truly passionate about their work. Additionally, each extended day was filled with well thought-out enrichment programs like music, karate, art, etc. WMS also provided a safe and consistent environment (virtually no staff turnover) – the teachers were always well-aware of everything going on in the classroom or on the playground and were readily available whenever we had any questions. Finally, the flexibility of having extended care until 5pm was incredibly helpful for us as two full-time working parents. Our children are very independent and have learned many valuable life skills that they will carry with them the rest of their lives – we are forever grateful.

“We were incredibly fortunate to have chosen Westwood Montessori School for our daughter three years ago. She was not quite 3 years old, and had little experience with peers due to the pandemic. All of the teachers were extremely patient, kind, warm, and reassuring to her and to us (her parents). The academic and social growth that we have seen in our daughter is amazing! She is independent, social, and loves to learn. Through the extended day options, she was able to develop connections with all of the teachers and staff, and learn new exciting things! All of the teachers and Mrs. Potter are all fabulous and thoughtful educators who truly care about the children in their care. The Tumble Bus that comes to the school is also a favorite activity for my daughter. We will miss WMS very much next year and recommend it highly!” Thank you for everything you do!

Westwood Montessori has been a foundational part of our two boys’ academic journey. The teaching team at the small school pays exceptional attention to each student, fostering an environment that stresses individual discovery, child-led learning, and guided creativity. In their role as guides to our boys, Faye Lundberg and her team prepared them both to be life-long learners. Our older son is a “I don’t want to go to school today” child and yet we virtually never heard him say that when it came to going to Westwood Montessori. Additionally, since he’s just a year older than his brother, he had an opportunity to revisit his old classroom after moving on to kindergarten. He was not only excited to go but came home gushing about how special he felt after being empowered to speak about his experience since leaving the preschool. Our younger son has been in his older brother’s shadow ever since he was born. No matter how much we encouraged him to build his own confidence, he still deferred to his brother’s strong opinions. The team at Westwood Montessori recognized this and made it a priority to work on his confidence – providing leadership opportunities and pairing him with a younger student to guide. He is now thriving and moving on to kindergarten at a nearby private school.

Both my daughter and son have attended Westwood Montessori over the course of the past three years. My daughter started at 3.3 and my son started at 2.9. They were in the same class which had been the perfect placement since they were already close but then became closer having the WMS experience. From the director, Mrs. Lundberg, to her right hand woman, Mrs. Potter and then having the opportunity to have all three of the other teachers, the staff has become a second family to my children. The hardest part of attending WMS is leaving it to go into the public schools. There is no other staff who has a bigger heart than this staff. Between moving homes, surgeries, and birthdays, the WMS always made my children and us, as their parents feel like we were a part of their family. Our children looked forward to going to school and always knew the expectations and structure from day one. The calm demeanor of the teachers and the quiet environment full of respect brought a sense of security into our children’s life that is so crucial in the early years. Beyond their social-emotional welfare, my children learned and were more than prepared for kindergarten. The only downfall was that you will never find teachers as warm, respectful and loving as the group at WMS. We as a family are so grateful to have been a part of the WMS family. We will miss them dearly and appreciate the emotional and educational foundation that they built for both our daughter and our son.

Words cannot express how pleased we have been with the educational and social experiences and overall level of care and attention that our children received during their preschool years at the Westwood Montessori School. All three of our children attended WMS for two years and while each had their own special experiences they all entered Kindergarten ready to tackle academic challenges, with a firm understanding of social interactions, and, most importantly, with positive feelings towards school. The teachers at the Westwood Montessori School gave our children those gifts. The educational curriculum is challenging and encourages children to work on their focus and attention, organization skills and attention to details, all while they are learning new concepts. At the Westwood Montessori School our children were exposed to geographical and scientific curriculum that I think is unique to a Montessori preschool. They were encouraged to become learners and to respect the classroom materials and expectations for behavior in school. Our children also participated in the afternoon enrichment program at WMS and I continue to think that their program is the best around. Each afternoon the children explored play materials with friends, ate lunch “family style” and then engaged in enrichment activities such as Karate, music and art appreciation. There are so many things that make WMS a special place and our family will miss driving up to that adorable blue building every morning to drop off our preschooler. However, our children will hold a piece of their experiences at the Westwood Montessori School in their hearts forever. It is where they learned to be independent learners, to ask questions, to make friends, and to love to go to school each and every day.

My daughters, now ages nine and five, began their lifelong love of learning at age three with the wonderful teachers at the Westwood Montessori School. My nine-year-old is a successful and talented fourth grader in public school, and my five-year-old is finishing her third and final year of preschool at WMS before entering Kindergarten.
WMS is a clean, well organized learning environment. The methods the school uses to teach are so inventive and well practiced that the children often don’t realize they are learning a lesson. For example, using ice tongs to pick up small objects in order to develop the fine motor skills required for writing. Or the trinomial cube as a method for understanding algebra. Or the “peace table” as a means of calmly resolving conflicts. These are all life lessons my children learned in a nurturing and safe environment – they were (are) happy every day to go to school.
Your child will learn core subjects like language arts, math, geography, and science. Beyond that, the Westwood Montessori School will teach your child self care skills, tools for friendship building, and how to be a citizen of the world and a steward of the Earth. I couldn’t possibly have known when I chose the school the impact it would have on my children’s future , but as they grow, I am confident I made the right choice.

The Westwood Montessori School, Faye Lundberg and her amazing staff have been a blessing to our family. We have had the experience of being WMS parents for four years, and have watched as our three unique children were each given a foundation in educational and life skills in a safe, nurturing and peaceful environment.
The Westwood Montessori School is truly a partnership of children, teachers, and families who are dedicated to the Montessori philosophy of cultivating a child’s natural inquisitiveness through experiential learning. The development of relationships with children of differing ages is invaluable, and we have had the wonderful experience of having our children in the same class. The natural mentoring and respect that children have for each other has been carried into our home environment.
When it comes to our children we always strive to make the best decisions for their present and their future, and above all we thank The Westwood Montessori School for preparing each of our children to be independent lifelong learners.

We started with Westwood Montessori Back in January 2004 with our older daughter Sofia. Since then we have had our other daughters Marissa and most recently Siena attend the school as well. Each of my 3 girls attended the Westwood Montessori school for 2 years of preschool. We have been more than pleased with the school. The children really do learn from the older students and from many of the activities at school. I am so glad we found the Westwood Montessori school. Kids have fun and they learn as they should.
The staff at the Westwood Montessori school have always been wonderful. I have known both Mrs Lundberg and Mrs O’Rourke for many years now. They have always been wonderful with the children. We have been very fortunate to have known the other wonderful teachers and have been pleased. These are wonderful women that show so much care for the children. Siena is very happy with all of them.
What we also love about Montessori is the cleanliness. Just by visiting the school you know that everything is so well maintained and clean. I feel more than comfortable leaving my child there for school. We also love the extended day program. There are so many enrichment activities being offered on different days.
All in all, Westwood Montessori is a wonderful school. I am sad that my family’s time with the school will come to an end come June when our little one goes off to elementary school. We have had 8 wonderful years with the school. I am always raving about it and I encourage anyone looking for a preschool to come visit the school.
